Do you have a proactive and positive attitude, with excellent attention to detail?  Do you have a genuine interest in the welfare of dogs?

We are seeking a Vet Nurse Assistant, who is passionate about animal welfare to join the Veterinary Team based in our Basildon rehoming centre.

Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK with a nationwide network of rehoming centres and charity shops. Last year, Dogs Trust centres cared for over 9,000 dogs; we never put a healthy dog down.

The Veterinary division helps monitor and manage the welfare of dogs within our rehoming centres in conjunction with our local veterinary partners and teams at the centres nationwide.

Working under the direction of the Veterinary Nurse, the Veterinary Nurse Assistant will assist in the care of dogs at the centre, will supervise and support the work of Canine Carers, and occasionally may be required to take an active part in Canine Carer duties. You will prepare the vet room for consultations and ensure high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and nursing are maintained. Additionally, you will ensure clinical records are up to date and drugs are dispensed according to the current legislation.

To be successful in this role, you will need a proactive and positive attitude, be highly efficient and reliable, with excellent attention to detail and good interpersonal and communication skills. A Veterinary Nurse qualification would be desirable, as would previous experience of working in a vet practice but this is not essential as training will be given.
